Recently a variety of books of many genres have been published in Manga (cartoon) form. A new trend in Manga books is their publication in English versions. These are very helpful for people wishing to learn colloquial English and the differences in expression between English and Japanese, because they are written in colloquial style in natural settings which resemble actual communication among native speakers of English. In this study expressions used in the Japanese original and in the English version are contrasted so as to focus on their transfer from one language to the other.
